Barbara Brown, MSW, LCSWA

“Talking about difficult emotions and asking for help can be hard. So while talk therapy is helpful,  sometimes it may be easier and more meaningful to express yourself in more creative ways. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate and becoming certified as a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT) offering a creative perspective on your situation. I hold my BA and MSW from Winthrop University with a graduate certificate in Management.  My versatile therapeutic approach uses cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, solution-focused, and motivational interviewing techniques to draw out your strengths and passions. I integrate creative approaches to therapy such as theater/movement, visual arts, and music) while focusing on both empowerment and positive lifestyle changes. ”

What is Drama Therapy?

Drama therapy is the intentional use of drama and/or theater processes to achieve therapeutic goals. Drama Therapy is an active, experiential approach to facilitating change. Through storytelling, projective play, purposeful improvisation, and performance, participants are invited to rehearse desired behaviors, practice being in a relationship, expand and find flexibility between life roles, and perform the change they wish to be and see in the world.
