Join our game master and resident clinican for a week of character creation & roleplay, as we explore how table-top roleplaying can help prepare students for any adventure!
There are many cool things about D&D, but in our therapeutic space players will naturally practice a wide variety of skills in a way that doesn’t feel like work. Research even backs this up! Studies have proven that during role-playing games, players are more empathetic, less socially anxious, better creative thinkers, and even have stronger morals than their non-roleplaying peers.
D&D therapy groups can use what’s already embedded in the game to encourage social and emotional growth in a fun and meaningful way.
D&D groups provide youth opportunities to:
- Collaborate with others for a common goal
- Practice social skills in a fun, low-stress environment
- Improve self-awareness and impulse control
- Boost self-confidence and self-esteem
- Learn to manage anxiety in a setting where mistakes are allowed
- Discover a social, creative outlet that isn’t a video game
- Get support from peers who share their interests
